For the ongoing Torn series, my photographs go through a complex process of selection and fragmentation.
For me, photographs are usually not the end result, but the starting point for further processing.
In this case, various C-prints are torn into pieces and then pinned onto lightweight panels. The initially destructive process of appropriation leads to reorganized montages, whereby the image finding is very similar to a painterly work process.
The newly created abstract compositions are deserted and subjectively "ideal" landscapes, images of nature from an imaginary bird's-eye view, which are based on the character of the depiction of reality.
